OUR ANNUAL ANGLO-INDIAN RECREATIONAL CLUB PICNIC
CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL ANGLO-INDIAN DAY
Sunday August 5th 2018
Ryall Park, Queensborough, New Westminster

Our picnic turned out to be a wonderfully happy event! We had about fourteen or more kids ranging from a 7-month-old baby to a couple of teenagers, and around 35 or so adults, many of whom were first-time attendees. Needless to say we were thrilled to have these new folks at our annual celebration of International Anglo-Indian Day.

Jacquie (Michael) always goes the extra mile for our Club functions, but she and I couldn't have done it all by ourselves, so a big thank you goes out to several of you who made the afternoon so enjoyable. Freda and Brian deserve more than just a pat on the back for arranging to book the shed and "guarding the fort" so to speak, until folks started to arrive. They are also fantastic "chai-wallahs", and what a refreshing thirst quencher Brian's brew was on a hot summer afternoon!

Thanks to Ashley (Orton) for toting over Jacquie's carrom board—always a hugely popular game for the less athletically inclined. The more intellectually inclined were put to the test by Eric (Liu) as they tried to come up with the correct answers to a Canadiana-themed quiz. Thank you for "master-minding" that Eric!

I'd also like to say a sincere thank you to Joe (Pacheco) for his supportive donation to our Club coffers.

Gemma (Gillis) and Gwen (D'Souza) were "game" to call a couple of Bingo rounds, so a couple of winners went home with small (very small!) change clinking in their pockets! Anne and Guiseppe brought along some great active, calorie-burning games, badminton for example, which they set up in the shade for everyone, big and small, to enjoy. We also had a guitarist in our midst - Glenn (Deefholts) who accompanied an enthusiastic sing-along session as the afternoon wore on.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so thanks to Jacquie and Eric for capturing the afternoon's fun better than anything I can say! Here are some of those memorable moments!
