THE ANGLO INDIAN RECREATIONAL CLUB OF B.C.
Celebrated International Anglo-Indian Day
Saturday, July 31st, 2021
(a day early)

Ryall Park, Salter Street,
New Westminster BC V3M 5B1

We were a small but happy group of about 27 (or so) folks who came by to celebrate International Anglo-Indian Day at our Club picnic on Saturday July 31st. The venue wasn't available on the customary date of August 1st, but that hardly mattered, as the spirit of the occasion was alive and well!

The weather gods smiled on us, as the heat wave that had engulfed our Province, gave way to a cool, cloudy day, and a sprinkling of much needed rain. The moisture didn't dampen our spirits, and it was great to catch up in person after so many months under the restrictions imposed by Covid-19.

A special thank you to:

•  Jacquie (Michael) for the "sweet" addition to our lunch table. And for setting up, and clearing away with help from her son, Todd (thank you Todd);

•  Vivek (Savkur) for co-ordinating our luncheon order for biryani and raitha with caterer Lionel Crasto;

•  Freda and Brian (D'Souza) who booked our covered venue in Queensborough, and who also went to great lengths to serve up their special brand of chai—ever so welcome as always;

•  Cherie and Keegan (D'Silva) for picking up and delivering our lunch;

•  Ashley Orton (in absentia) for lending us his carom board and his music equipment primed with a selection of good old song hits from the 50s, 60s, 70s and later;

•  Lionel Crasto whose biryani and raitha was scrumptious and hugely enjoyed by all;

•  And last, but very far from least, our special “events photographer” Eric (Liu) whose did his usual camera magic, and produced the shots displayed here.

To all of you who joined us, thank you for making this such a fun event. We'll get together again soon, now that restrictions are being eased somewhat. Lionel Crasto's brand new restaurant, “Bandra Café” will be a great place to make “mujha” when it opens in September on the Surrey side of Scott Road and 72nd. So stay tuned!
