Although not many of us hailed from the land of shamrocks and leprechauns, it didn't deter us from having a party in honour of St. Patrick Day. Everyone wore something green: tophats, scarves, neckties, shamrock earings and necklaces. Betty T's green mask which glittered with blinking lights was eye-catching, and one of the attendees (guess who) turned up with bright green "hair".

The potluck tea table groaned under the weight of cookies, green chutney sandwiches (thank you Freda!) bhajias, muffins (adorned with shamrocks!) home made fudge, cream puffs and an assortment of other delicacies. Ashley O's green lemonade punch was a popular cooler, and an array of assorted teas (as well as a pot of coffee) were much appreciated beverages.

An Irish-trivia quiz (with a prize to be won) had folks scribbling away; there was an award for the best Irish outfit, and the winner of an Irish-themed bingo game went home with pockets a-jingle.

No party is complete without a sing-along session, and the room rang out with "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling", "Galway Bay" and "It's a Long Way to Tipperary". And, although not in the least bit Irish but just for good measure, a rousing rendition of "Irene Good Night!"
